Welcome to this issue
of CIMCO News. We hope to keep you up-to-date
with some of the new features and also to give you technical
information on how to use CIMCO products.
Version 5.6 of CIMCO
Software is now released. Many new functions have been added to CIMCO
DNC-Max, CIMCO NC-Base, CIMCO Edit and CIMCO CNC-Calc. Please see links
below to update.
NEW FEATURES IN CIMCO DNC-MAX
FTP server port
FTP server protocol has been added
to DNC-Max. Many of the new controllers are coming with an Ethernet
connection that requires the FTP protocol to send programs to/from the
CNC. In previous versions you had to install a separate FTP server to
communicate with these machines. You no longer need to do this. Just
select the FTP template when adding a new port in DNC-Max.
Groups and Subgroups added to DNC-Max
client
In the DNC-Max client you can now
arrange ports into groups and sub groups. Here we can see the machines
in Hall 1 subdivided into Mill and Turning groups. In Hall 2 they are
subdivided into Cell 1 and Cell 2. Right click in the DNC-Max client to
add groups and sub groups.
NEW FEATURES IN NC-BASE
Version 5.6
saw many new options and features in NC-Base. Most of these were the
result of an install at a very large customer (350 CNC machines) with
many users using the NC-Base client. For a full list of the changes
please see the history.txt file installed in the program folder.
The most important changes
Secure mode
for NC-Base where the clients do not need write access to the NC-Base
directory. Previously users needed write access and could accidentally
move or delete files by browsing to the base directory using Windows
Explorer. This would cause problems with broken links in NC-Base.
Added
option to use option to automatically log on NC-Base using Windows user
name.
Added
option to expire passwords and strong passwords.
Added
option for Editor to run in “Minimal NC-Base Client mode”.
This mode removes many menu items. This mode can be disabled if you
hold down “Shift and Ctrl” when you start the editor.
A further
option called “super minimal mode” sets everything to read
only so no changes can be made.

NEW FEATURES FOR CIMCO EDIT
Better support for Multi Monitor
configurations
Many users use 2 monitors with the
same PC and we now support this
better in CIMCO Edit. Previously if the monitors were running different
resolutions there was a problem maximizing the Editor.
Mazatrol viewer supports Milling controls
The
Mazatrol viewer has been enhanced to support Milling controls M2,
M32, M+ and Fusion M640. We are looking for sample files to include
with the installation so if you have any that can be distributed please
contact us.
Both
Turning and Milling support for Mazatrol files are separate
options in the order system. If both are ordered there is a discount on
the second option of 50%
Saving NC backplot to DXF files has been
released
Lathe and 3
axis milling programs in the top plane are supported.
New Function: Make Tool
List
NC
Functions – Make Tool List is a new function that scans the NC
file and makes a list of the tools used.
In the
Editor Setup there is an option for how the Tool List is made.
NEW FEATURES IN CNC-CALC
The dialogs
and default values for contour and pocket milling have been changed to
make it easier to create a toolpath.
