Creating customs tools in Mastercam is simple and can be done in a variety of ways. Watch as we show you just how simple it is, while creating one from custom geometry pulled off a level.
Draw the profile of your custom tool on its own level in the TOP plane, with the origin the middle of the bottom of the tool
Open the Tool Manager found in the Toolpaths tab. In the right click context menu select Create tool
Select Custom tool and click Next
Click the Import and link custom geometry from a level icon
Select the level with your custom tool and click Ok
Click Next
Define the tool properties and click Finish
Select the Green Check to exit the Tool Manager
Select your custom tool in the toolpath parameters – the tool will load as it was defined
Backplot the toolpath – The custom tool will be displayed as shown
