Evaluation Code Installation & Troubleshooting

Download and install the most recent version of Mastercam from: https://www.inhousesolutions.com/downloads-installation/
Evaluation Codes will work for X9, 2017 and up and only need to be installed under one version in order for them to take effect.

Note: To follow this process, an active internet connection is required.

Installing Evaluation Codes through 2017 & up

For HASP Users
If Hasp is present, unplug from computer.

For NetHASP Users
If NetHASP is used, unplug from computer or open NhaspX.exe
(Start>All Programs>Mastercam (Version)>Utilities>NHasp X) and change SIM type to Hasp.

All Users
Launch Mastercam.

The below pop-up will occur. Select Yes.

Select Activate a New Licence.

Accept the terms and conditions and select Next.

Enter Activation code (copy and paste) and select Next.

Wait for license information to be retrieved over the internet.

Verify that the license requested matches the products listed and select Next.

Wait for products to be activated over the internet.

You will be notified when the product(s) have been successfully activated. Select Finish to exit the activation wizard.

Running Mastercam with Evaluation License

If a HASP or NetHASP is not used on this computer, Mastercam will automatically use the evaluation license.

If Mastercam is already being used on this computer, create a shortcut that can be used while the evaluation is active. To do this, go to:

Start > All Programs > Mastercam (Version) > Utilities > Mastercam Launcher

Set License Type to Software in the bottom left hand corner and select the products you would like to run and select Create Shortcut.

Note: If there are multiple users on the same workstation, a shortcut needs to be created for each.

Installing Evaluation Codes through X8

If Mastercam 2017 & up or Mastercam X9 is not installed, download and install the Mastercam Activation Wizard from http://www.mastercam.com/en-us/Support-Downloads-Drivers-and-Applets:

Run Activation Wizard (Start > All Programs > Mastercam Licensing Utilities > Activation Wizard).

Click on Activate a New License:

Accept the terms and conditions and select Next.

Enter the Activation code provided (copy and paste) and select Next.

Wait for the license information to be retrieved over the internet.

Verify that the license requested matches the products listed and select Next.

Wait for the products to be activated over the internet.

You will be notified when the product(s) have been successfully activated. Select Finish to exit the activation wizard.

Running Mastercam X8 with Evaluation License

If a HASP or NetHASP is used on this computer, create a shortcut that can be used while the Evaluation is active. To do this, go to:

Start > All Programs > Mastercam X8 > Utilities > Mastercam Launcher

Set License Type to Software in the bottom left hand corner, select the products you would like to run and select Create Shortcut:

Note: If there are multiple users on the same workstation a shortcut needs to be created for each.
If a HASP or NetHASP is not present, a registry modification is required. This is done by going to:

Start > Search “regedit” > Run regedit.exe:

In the Registry Editor, go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > CNC Software

Change Sim Type to W

Troubleshooting

Modifying the Registry
If you have attempted to modify the registry and the CNC Software folder is missing, attempt to launch Mastercam and then return to the registry.

If the CNC Software folder is present in the registry but is missing Sim Type:

Open NHaspX.exe (Start > All Programs > Mastercam X8 > Utilities) and change the Sim type to NetHASP and select OK

Then return to Registry Editor and follow the steps outlined.

Cimco License Error

If output to Cimco the below error may occur that states ‘Mastercam HASP not found.’ Mastercam Code Export can be used otherwise you will need to modify your registry.

Start > Search “regedit” > Run regedit.exe:

In the Registry Editor, go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > CNC Software

Change Sim Type to W

Unable to Post – Post not encrypted to sim

Some posts are encrypted to specific sim numbers.
